The EDX has a 8.5x50 open bridge. The binoculars can be held without shaking - thanks to its low weight - with one hand, or even in winter, when wearing gloves. The binoculars weighs only 868g and has a compact design, only 175 mm long - using robust materials such as magnesium, aluminum and polycarbonate. The anti-slip reinforcement is made of natural rubber and therefore not only guarantees durability, but also provides significantly greater adhesion.
Impact-resistant eyecups protect the lenses. The EDX 8,5x50 is completely waterproof and fog-free. The full focus range is precisely adjusted with just 1.5 turns, ensuring quick detection while hiking or landscape observation.
Diopter compensation can be adjusted on the right eyepiece. Glasses wearers can easily fix the lenses in four positions, so they can achieve the perfect viewing distance and avoid narrowing the field of vision.
While the EDX 8,5x50 is based on the proven roof prism system (Schmidt Pechan), the types of glass used in these binoculars have been completely redesigned. This innovative ED (Extra Low Dispersion) glass reduces contour discoloration even more than most ED binoculars to date. The user thus gets perfectly coordinated and brilliant colors.
The newly developed PHC140 phase correction coating for the EDX 8,5x50 blocks 99 percent of all unwanted wave-optical effects, preventing even the slightest blurring. The so-called apochromatic correction (APO) reliably eliminates contour and color errors in the EDX 8,5x50.
The EDX 8,5x50 device provides the optical image in the maximum resolution that can be reproduced according to the current state of the art. This is guaranteed by the special DDlucid coating, with which the Schmidt-Pechan roof prism is supplemented with two roof surfaces. This coating from the Japanese photo industry is a further development of the well-known and proven ELR coating (Extra Low Reflection). DDlucid is one of the most effective binocular coatings. Currently, only premium binoculars have a similarly sophisticated coating.
